Dear
Growers
In
the fourth week of the 2022 Season the district resumed
harvesting and crushing on Tuesday with 12,000 tonnes cut on
first day. This supply increased quickly to 22,000 tonnes on
Wednesday with Victoria mill starting crushing. By Friday the
mill had 28,000 tonnes cane and all milling trains in district
are back on line.
The
mill reports that they continue to manage bagasse stocks until
they are back at full loading and will build up supplies to
ensure they have sufficient bagasse stocks for another stop/start
should it be needed.
Macknade has
restarted well after some initial processing issues at panstage
with hard sugar product from stop. They have now settled
and Macknade mill had crushed 26,000 tonnes at a CCS of 11.15 for
the two and half days since start up. The mill reported that mud
levels are elevated but not causing too many processing issues.
Victoria mill has also crushed 26,000 tonnes at 11.64 CCS in two
days since restarting. The mill run out of cane Friday morning.
