Dear Growers
We are into the seventh week of
the 2021 Season with the Herbert River mills crushing 128,000
tonnes so far this week with Victoria mill crushing 95,000 tonnes
for the week since this morning at a CCS of 12.53. Vic mill is
looking at approximately 138,000 for the week and Macknade Mill
has crushed 43,000 tonnes for the week since this morning at
a CCS of 12.65. Macknade is looking at around 65,000 tonnes for
the week. Macknade and Victoria mills had a 12 hour maintenance
day to chemical clean evaporators and carry out normal routine
maintenance. The mill reported that Macknade mill is still
relying on the transfer of cane to the mill area although this is
reducing as the field conditions improve throughout the district.
Last Monday Victoria mill had a failed bearing on a cane carrying
conveyor which took longer to address than expected and caused
around 10 hours lost time on A side.

Share you experiences to ensure farmers get a
right to repair for farm machinery
|
|
The Productivity Commission — the Australian
Government’s independent research and advisory body — has recently
released a draft report on the Right to Repair in Australia, including a discussion of barriers to
repair for agricultural machinery and the potential to establish
a right of repair for such machinery.
To assist with analysis for its final report, the
Commission is seeking additional information about the repair
experiences of agricultural machinery owners. The more evidence
that can be provided that this right is needed, the more chance
we provide our industry to establish a right to repair for
agricultural machinery.
If your agricultural machinery has recently been
repaired, please fill out this short (5-10 mins) . Click the link

Final 2020-Season Advance payment
The final QSL Advance payment for the 2020 Season
was made last week to all QSL growers except those in Mackay
milling districts. Unfortunately Mackay Sugar on Thursday advised
that due to technical issues they cannot provide the data
required for Mackay growers' final 2020-Season QSL payment until
29 July. This means that the final 2020-Season payment for these
growers has been delayed until Friday, 30 July.
New GST arrangements – Wilmar districts
QSL's new simplified GST arrangements for our growers in Wilmar
milling districts are now in place. As part of this change, these
growers are now also receiving improved statements incorporating
a Tax Summary section highlighting the key QSL figures for their
bookwork. For a quick tour of the new statement and its key
features, watch the video here.
Staff departure
QSL General Manager Operations Damian Ziebarth recently finished
with the business due to ill health. Damian made an extraordinary
contribution to QSL during his nine years at the helm of QSL
Operations and played a key role in transforming the way QSL
approaches workplace health and safety. The entire QSL team
wishes Damian a speedy and full recovery, and thanks him
sincerely for his dedication, friendship and hard work.
Recruitment for the GM Operations role is underway, with Dean
O'Brien currently acting in this role.
Committed pricing levels
As of 1 July 2021, QSL growers have been able to access
additional GEI tonnage to price in the 2023 and 2024 Seasons,
with committed pricing levels now as follows:

To access QSL pricing, you must first have a GEI
Sugar Marketing nomination in place for the season in question.
See your local QSL team for details or help with the nomination
process.
